Giuseppe Caputo
Giuseppe Caputo was born in Barranquilla, Colombia in 1982. He has a Creative Writing degrees from New York University and the University of Iowa and has written the novels Un mundo huérfano (Literatura Random House, 2016) and Estrella madre (Literatura Random House, 2020). The English edition of Un mundo huérfano (An Orphan World), translated by Juana Adock and Sophie Hughes, received an English Pen Award, and Estrella madre was nominated for the 2022 Premio Finestres de Narrativa in Spanish. He was the cultural director of the International Bogotá Book Fair (FILBo) from 2015 and 2018, and he was included in Hay Festival Bogotá’s 2017 Bogotá 39 list.
He is currently a professor and academic coordinator of the master’s in Creative Writing at the Instituto Caro y Cuervo, where he’s directed community writing projects like Encorazonadas. Memorias trans desde el barrio Santa Fe y Travesías. Testimonios de personas transmasculinas en Bogotá. His work has been translated into English, Italian, and Indonesiand so far.
