Amaury René Sánchez Colmenares

Amaury René Sánchez Colmenares (Mexico City, 1968) is a writer based in Cuernavaca. He has a History degree and a Masters degree in Editorial Production from the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos. His novel Grimorio won the XIV National Ignacio Manuel Altamirano Novel Prize in 2019 and was published in 2023 as part of UNAM’s Molinos collection. He received a FONCA Young Creators Novel Fellowship in 2021.

He co-directs the collective Ruina Tropical, which has organized cultural events in Cuernavaca. His stories have been translated into Portuguese for Eterna Primavera (2016), an anthology edited for Young Mexico Week in Portugal and into Italian for a project by the Italian collective Capek Magazine in 2024. His novel Acequia was the winner of the inaugural Las Yubartas Prize.
